Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy is an integral part of the Privacy Policy above.

Users may express their consent to the use of cookies by continuing to browse the Sites, i.e. by scrolling through, clicking on one of the internal links on the pages of the Sites, or by clicking on the “x” button of the short information notice visible (bottom right corner) at each first access on the Sites, as provided for in the provision of the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (no. 229 of May 8, 2014).

Cookies consist of portions of code (computer files or partial data) sent by a server to the user’s Internet browser, automatically stored by said browser on the user’s computer, and automatically sent back to the server at each occurrence or subsequent access to the site. Usually a cookie contains the name of the Internet site from which the cookie originates, the cookie’s vital lifetime (i.e., how long it will remain on the user’s device) and a value, which is usually a randomly generated unique number. On each subsequent visit, cookies are sent back to the website that originated them (first-party cookies) or to another website that recognizes them (third-party cookies). Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognize a user’s device and serve a variety of purposes such as, for example, enabling efficient navigation between pages, remembering favorite sites, and generally improving the browsing experience. They also help to ensure that advertising content displayed online is more targeted to a user and their interests.

If you choose to disable cookies, this may affect and/or limit your browsing experience within the Sites, for example you may not be able to visit certain sections of a Site or you may not receive personalized information when you visit the Sites.

How this works as well as options to restrict or block cookies, can be adjusted by changing the settings of your internet browser. Most internet browsers are initially set to accept cookies automatically, however, you can change these settings to block cookies or to be notified whenever cookies are sent to your device. There are several ways to manage cookies, for this purpose you should refer to the help screen of your browser to see how to adjust or change its settings. In fact, the user is allowed to change the default configuration and disable cookies (i.e., block them permanently) by setting the highest level of protection.

Below is the path to manage cookies from the following browsers:

Internet Explorer: http://windows.microsoft.com/it-it/windows7/block-enable-or-allow-cookies

Safari: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11913

Firefox: http://support.mozilla.org/it-IT/kb/enable-and-disable-cookies-website-preferences

If you use different devices to view and access the Sites (e.g., computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.), you should ensure that each browser on each device is adjusted to reflect your cookie preferences. To delete cookies from your smartphone/tablet’s Internet browser, you should refer to your device’s user manual.

The Sites use different types of cookies each of which has a specific function. The Site uses cookies to make navigation easier and to better tailor both the pages it loads and its products to users’ interests and needs. Cookies may also be used to speed future user experiences and activities on the site. In addition, cookies are used to compile anonymous aggregate statistics to understand how users use the site and to improve the structure and content of the Sites themselves.

Below is an explanatory list.

Technical cookies

“Technical” cookies are essential for the proper functioning of the site and allow users to navigate the site and take advantage of its features (for example, they allow the storage of previous actions or allow saving the user’s session and/or perform other activities strictly necessary for the site to function).

Also belonging to this category are “analytical” cookies, which help to understand how users interact with the site by providing information about the last page visited, the number of sections and pages visited, the time spent on the site, and any events that have arisen in the course of browsing, such as an error message, and help to understand any difficulties the user encounters in using the site. This information might be associated with user details such as IP address, domain, or browser; however, it is analyzed along with other users’ information so as not to identify a particular user over the other. These cookies are collected and aggregated anonymously and allow the site operator to improve the usability of the site.

Finally, “functionality” cookies allow the Site to remember user choices (e.g. user name) to provide the user with a more personalized and optimized browsing experience. Functional cookies are not essential to the operation of the Sites, but they improve the quality and experience of the Sites. If you do not accept these cookies, the performance and functionality of the Site may be inferior and access to Site content may be limited.

Profiling cookies

“Targeting” or “profiling” cookies are used to present content that is better suited to you and your interests. They can be used to display targeted advertisements, to serve ads tailored to the user’s interests, or to limit the number of times the user views an advertisement. They also help measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns on the site; the site operator may use these cookies to remember sites that the user has visited and share this information with third parties, including agencies and advertisers who may use their cookies to collect information about the activities that users perform on the site.

“Sharing” (or social network) cookies are necessary to enable you to interact with the Sites through your social account and are used, for example, to express an appreciation and to share it with relevant social contacts.

The Site uses or may use, including in combination with each other, cookies:

– “session” cookies that are stored on the user’s computer for purely technical-functional needs, for the transmission of session identifiers necessary to enable the safe and efficient exploration of the site; they are deleted at the end of the “session” (hence the name) when the browser is closed;

– “persistent” which remain stored on the computer’s hard drive until they expire or are deleted by users. Through persistent cookies, users accessing the sites (or any other users employing the same computer) are automatically recognized each time they visit.

Third-party cookies

When a user uses the site, some cookies may be stored that are not controlled by the site operator. This happens, for example, if the user visits a page that contains content from a third-party website. As a result, the user will receive cookies from these third-party services. On third-party cookies, the site operator has no control over the information provided by the cookie and has no access to that data. This information is totally controlled by the third-party companies as described in their respective privacy policies.

The following table shows the third-party cookies on the site. These fall under the direct and exclusive responsibility of the third-party operator and are divided into the following macro-categories:

Analytics: these are the cookies used to collect and analyze statistical information about access/visits to the website. In some cases, associated with other information such as the credentials entered to access restricted areas (one’s e-mail address and password), they can be used to profile the user (personal habits, sites visited, content downloaded, types of interactions made, etc.).

Widgets: This category includes all those graphic components of a program’s user interface, which is intended to facilitate the user in interacting with the program itself (by way of example, Facebook, Google+, Twitter cookies are widgets).

Advertising: Cookies used to deliver advertising services within a site fall into this category.

If you do not wish to receive third-party cookies on your device, you may, through the links below, access the policies and consent forms of those third parties and opt out of receiving them.

These cookies are not directly controlled by the Sites, so to revoke consent you should refer to the third party websites or refer to http://www.youronlinechoices.com/it/ for information on how you can delete or manage cookies based on the browser you are using and to manage your preferences on third-party profiling cookies.
